Tire safety is always magnified as the summer travel season gets going. According to the website Tiresafety.com, "Under inflation is the leading cause of tire failure". Proper care and maintenance of your tires is crucial and should be a regular item on your "to do" list. Monitoring of your RV's tires are extremely important as well; especially if there are signs of UV damage. The RV Doctor says, "the damage caused by ultraviolet (UV) radiation as well as exposure to the ozone virtually effects all tires. RV tires in general are more susceptible to this type of damage since they are considered a slow wearing tire. RV tires typically are not driven as far or as often as regular automobile tires". You can read more of The RV Doctor's article HERE.
One of his suggestions, which come from virtually every tire manufacturer, is to cover your RV tires when the vehicle is not in use.
"During short periods of non-use, keep the tires completely covered. When possible, remove and store the tires completely out of the sun and temperature extremes."
